Grass Snake, Bovington Stream.

These snakes are harmless to us they are easily recognisable by the bright yellow collar. See Photograph 2018 records. TW

Last Week of March Chiff Chaffs return and can now be heard calling around the village.

Blackcap have also returned, heard in Eight Acre Coppice LNR.  RMP

10 April - Swallow over the water meadows at East Burton. TW

7 May - Cuckoo calling over Woolbridge Heath. UG  Few days later heard at the Water meadows at East Burton. RMP

11 April - Orange Tip Cologne Road, Shortly after Holly Blue. RMP

Hedgehogs seem to have had a tough summer. The heat and drought probably drove many of their prey species to go deeper in the soil or just hide away.

If you have fed hedgehogs in your garden in Wool are they still there or have you lost them?

In about the second week of September a European Crane was sen flying over Wool. EF.
